True text SMS messaging works only one way: most of the
cell phone providers have an email address that you can
send an EMAIL message to, that then gets forwarded as a
text message to the cell phone. You'll have to check with
your cellular carrier for the email address to use to do
that.

I know of no way to text message from phone to computer.
There is no text message app that runs on a computer.

NOTE that TEXT messaging on your phone is different than
INSTANT messaging from computer to computer. If you've got
a high end phone that has internet, some can run an special
phone-based instant messaging program. I can run MunduIM,
for example, on my Treo cell phone.

But in general regular old phone text messaging and computer
instant messaging aren't the same thing, and don't interoperate
easily.

Thanks for asking,

Leo
