The problem is that there are no "save on the computer"
folders. Hotmail is a web-based service. As long as you're
using the same account (email address) the mail should
be there. If you've closed the account, then the folders
that were on the web service with that old account would
be gone.
Probably doesn't help you one bit, but from the sound
of it, that's likely what's happening.
