I guess I'm a little confused. DVDs and CDs are usually read-only
media. That means once you burn something to the CD or DVD it cannot
be changed. (It's of course more complicated than that, but that's
the common thing.)
My comments were about copying files to the hard disk in your computer.
Once you copy it there, the read-only attribute may be set if you
copied it from a read-only media like a CD or DVD. On the hard disk
you can change it however you like.
Am I missing your point?
