Usually if it reboots or crashes when you do some heavy network
activity, I immediately suspect the drivers for your network card.
I would make sure that those were up-to-date by visiting the web
site for your computer's manufacturer, or the network card's
manufacturer, where I'd have you download and install the latest
drivers for that network card.

If that doesn't do it, it's possible that the network card itself
has a hardware problem.

Since you're running Win98, it's possible that you can no
longer get updated drivers, but it's worth a look.
